Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport
London - United Kingdom
S: £32,152 - £37,877 + speciali

Salary: £32,152 - £37,877 + £4,000 specialist allowance

We're currently seeking skilled analysts from professions including economics, operational research, social research and statistics to inform a diverse range of high-profile government policy areas. We have opportunities in a range of teams, each with a different and important focus: the 5G Programme; the Office for Civil Society; Trade; Telecoms (EU Exit, Legislation and Trade); Departmental Modelling Support; Media and Creative Industries; Future Telecoms Infrastructure Review. You may enjoy scope to support everything from research, analysis and evaluation, through to design and delivery.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport is a relatively small Westminster department with an influential and varied policy portfolio. Our Analysts enjoy a high level of responsibility. Here, you'll enjoy closer involvement with ministers and senior policy officials than in larger departments.

Below, we outline the range of Analyst roles currently available in different teams.

As a 5G Analyst, you'd provide flexible support to two economists, who lead on making the economic case for 5G investment and realising the benefits of the 5G Programme. With an innovative approach to problem-solving, you'd help to shape and deliver the nation's digital future.

As an Analyst within the Office for Civil Society, you'd play a role in research and analysis portfolios that span the directorate. We would look to you to both support and take a lead on the design and management of research, analysis and evaluation.

As a Trade Economist, you'd gather evidence from across some of the UK's most interesting and growing service sectors across the digital, culture, media and sport sectors. Your analysis would support the Department's input into the development of future free trade agreements.

As a Telecoms Analyst, you'd support the preparation of important impact assessments, analysing the potential impact of the new European Electronic Communications Code and the EU Withdrawal Bill. You'd also work with policy officials to evaluate policy options for legislative changes.

Joining the Departmental Modelling Support team, you'd use a range of different models to estimate the impacts of policy and delivery strategies in a variety of digital, culture, media and sport policy areas. You would also help other analysts to develop new, best practice models.

As a Media and Creative Industries Analyst, ideally with a background as in economics, you'd explore international and trade questions around the media and creative issues. Topics would include EU exit, future trade relationships and funding. You'd inform senior decision makers and ministers.

Joining the Future Telecoms Infrastructure Review team, you'd support an in-depth review of the telecoms market, assessing how to support investment in the next generation of digital connectivity. You'd ensure that its findings are underpinned by excellent evidence and economic analysis.

To join us in any of these teams, you'll need to be a highly motivated analyst with good analytical knowledge. You'll bring to the role strong quantitative and qualitative skills. Committed to quality in all you do, you have the confidence and experience to make sound decisions about your work. Crucially, you're a good communicator with a naturally collaborative approach. The ability to build strong professional relationships will be key to your success.
