POSITION PURPOSE:
This position directs processes necessary to produce forecasts focused on the economics of the Tennessee Valley, which may include 1) TVA region economic forecasts, 2) regional, national and international sector analyses, 3) economic impact of various TVA strategies and policies, and 4) corporate assumptions such as inflation outlooks as part of TVA's overall Integrated Planning Process. This position is viewed as an economic expert in the methodologies used in forecasting, and an ability to evaluate changing macroeconomic and microeconomics conditions with time series econometric models is a necessary skill. The incumbent insures that appropriate research and design efforts result in econometric forecasting procedures and methodologies which are equal to or exceed current standard forecasting processes in the electric utility industry. This position may also support electricity forecasts within the TVA balancing area, sales and revenue forecasts, and transmission demand requirements. Accurate forecasts are essential to decisions impacting TVA's operating practices and the type and timing of resource acquisitions such as building, leasing, or selling generation and transmission assets, purchasing or selling wholesale power, or developing effective financial plans including short-term budgeting.
