POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is a forecasting developmental position providing technical support in the functional areas of economic forecasting, load forecasting & corporate assumptions. The incumbent will develop skills and knowledge acceptable for progressing to the Enterprise Forecasting Specialist positions. This position supports processes necessary to produce forecasts focused on the economics of the Tennessee Valley, which may include

1) TVA region economic forecasts
2) regional, national and international sector analyses
3) economic impacts of various TVA strategies and policies 4) corporate assumptions such as inflation outlooks as part of TVA's overall Integrated Planning Process.

This position is viewed as an economic expert in the methodologies used in forecasting, and an ability to evaluate changing macroeconomic and microeconomics conditions with time series econometric models is a necessary skill. The incumbent insures that appropriate research and design efforts result in econometric forecasting procedures and methodologies which are equal to or exceed current standard forecasting processes in the electric utility industry. This position may also support electricity forecasts within the TVA balancing area, sales and revenue forecasts, and transmission demand requirements. Accurate forecasts are essential to decisions impacting TVA's operating practices and the type and timing of resource acquisitions such as building, leasing, or selling generation and transmission assets, purchasing or selling wholesale power, or developing effective financial plans including short-term budgeting.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
While supporting Enterprise Forecasting, principal accountabilities include:
1. Develop TVA region economic forecasts and corporate assumptions.

2. Improve existing processes and design new processes and associated indicators to improve speed and accuracy and reduce costs.

3. Direct the technical direction and operation of TVA's economic end-use, econometric load forecasting and other associated models to insure continual improvement.

4. Provide technical support in representing TVA objectives and interests to TVA customers, elected officials, local and national public power organizations and other stakeholders as well as competitors. May participate as needed on appropriate NERC, SERC, EPRI and associated industry committees.

5. Participate in processes that produce forecasts of electricity consumption in the Valley along with TVA's transmission and wholesale power sales by monitoring process and outcome indicators against plan and taking positive action when necessary. This work includes forecasting future loads and market conditions, and providing updates and analysis of TVA sales and revenues of electricity.

6. Support achieving department goals, utility/TVA business and strategic planning goals, and appropriate metric evaluations within staffing and budget requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education. – Masters degree in Economics or comparable related field of study, or equivalent education, training & experience is required. A PhD in Economics is preferred.

Experience. – Experience in system resource planning, load forecasting, or other related work experience with in-depth knowledge, skills and abilities in system planning and load forecasting techniques through an internship is desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — The incumbent must possess extensive experience in statistics, computer science, must understand the basic principles of accounting, engineering, finance, management, and electric utility planning and operations. Proficiency in oral and written communications is also necessary
