Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance, with potential to be extended to a third year.

The faculty of Economics is looking to hire a post-doctoral candidate starting September 2018. The current funding is guaranteed for 2 years from the European Research Council. There is a possibility of extension to a third year using combined resources at the Economics faculty. The salary is comparable with other European post-docs such as the INET post-doctoral fellowships at Cambridge and Nuffield post-doctoral fellowships at Oxford.

The post is attached to Dr Debopam Bhattacharya's ERC project on welfare analysis in discrete choice settings (EDWEL). Interest in discrete choice modelling, demand analysis and familiarity with consumer databases would be desirable, but not required. Regardless, the candidate will have plenty of flexibility in terms of the research he/she undertakes, and will be an active member of the Economics faculty and the Econometrics group comprised of Richard Smith, Andrew Harvey, Oliver Linton, Alexei Onatski and Koen Jochmans. He/she will also assist with the academic aspects of organizing two research conferences related to the ERC grant.

The Fellowship will be based at the Faculty of Economics.

Successful candidates who have been awarded their PhD the salary will be employed on Uiversity Grade 7 for Research Associates (Fellowships), starting at £31,604 to £38,833 per annum, and those without a
PhD by September 2018 will be employed on University Grade 5 for Research Assistants starting at £25,728 to £30,688* per annum. Research Fellows would also have the possibility of joining a college.

Applications should consist of:

- job market paper;
- supplementary material containing other available research papers.

Three references will be sought upon receipt of application.
