Government Economic Service scheme
£28-32k, UK-wide

This is not just a question of analysing figures. It's about being at the heart of the policy-making process, influencing and shaping the government's response to some of the key issues of the day. On this 3-5 year scheme, you'll develop your expertise through postings in areas such as international financial issues, local government finance, public health and criminal justice. You could be working for a wide range of government departments or agencies, and sometimes even overseas.
To apply, you'll need to be eligible to work in the UK. You'll also need, or expect to gain, a 2:1 degree or higher or a postgraduate degree in an economic subject.

Diplomatic Economic Scheme
£28k, London and overseas

This 2-year scheme puts you at the heart of global macroeconomic policy and international relations. Working within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, you'll assess programmes and analyse emerging trends in areas such as inequality and globalisation. As you grow your expertise, you'll inform some of the most diverse and rewarding projects in government. You'll also have outstanding access to development opportunities through the Diplomatic Academy and Government Economics Service.
To apply, you must be a British Citizen and have been resident in the UK for at least 2 out of the last 10 years. You'll also need, or expect to gain, a 2:1 degree or higher or a postgraduate degree in an economic subject.
