The Investment Analyst is primarily responsible for conducting research and comprehensive credit analysis in support of underwriting investment opportunities and the ongoing review of existing investment portfolio securities holdings, while also supporting trade operations for a growing investment portfolio.

Essential Job Functions:

Conduct comprehensive credit analyses and effectively communicate research results in support of underwriting investment opportunities along with the monitoring of and ongoing review of existing investment portfolio securities holdings. Components of this analysis will include, but are not limited to analyzing issuer financial statements, the review of bond indenture documentation, filings, disclosures, ratings reports, economic data, sector analysis and the identification of industry trends and their respective impact on potential or existing investment portfolio holdings.

Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis in direct support of the VP/Assistant Portfolio Manager and the EVP/Portfolio Manager and associated fixed-income investment decisions of the Investment Management team.

Utilize systems, tools and resources to prepare reports based on various risk factors and effectively communicate any potential risk exposure.

Actively maintain and communicate internal risk ratings and other risk assessments to the investment team and manage the required documentation associated with this process.

Identify key drivers and risk within differing municipal bond subsectors and industries. Candidate will be responsible for monitoring specific legislative, regulatory, economic and fiscal developments related to the municipal bond market.

Assist the VP/Assistant Portfolio Manager and the EVP/Portfolio Manager with monthly, quarterly and annual reports, as well as ad-hoc projects relating to investment portfolio analysis.

Compile and prepare information for investment security transaction reports.

Develop knowledge of debt types used in the municipal bond sector, such as general obligation, revenue, taxable, tax-exempt, refunding bonds, certificates of participation and Build America Bonds.

Develop an understanding for state and local obligations, education, energy, water and waste water agencies, housing finance authorities, transportation-related entities and other municipal sector securities.

Work with the Bank's existing relationships including bond underwriters, sell-side research, credit rating agencies, representatives of municipal bond issuers and other industry professionals.

Provide trading and operational support with respect to reporting and document management functions.

Work collaboratively with the investment management team.
