Junior BI Analyst - Data Visualisation

The Role

The BI Analyst will be a bright graduate who will be able to learn business and technical skills to assist the Data Visualisation team in providing accurate & timely reports. There is also a creative element focusing on finding ways to communicate insightful data via new methods such as Infographics.The data is available from a variety of sources including an operational data store (ODS) and IBM data warehouse. Therefore, the job will involve intense onsite training on the use of db2 SQL, Cognos BI reporting tools, Excel and report requirement gathering. The data sources and reporting requirements are constantly evolving so the ability to communicate with the business for new requirements is essential. The information will be utilised by, among others, insights, marketing, technical and financial departments to assist them to make important business decisions and carry out operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Developing and maintaining complex, creative and interactive reports and dashboards in Cognos report studio.
Providing support to users with regards to extracting meaningful data for their analysis requirements.
Implementing and maintaining the layout and security of access permissions within Cognos administration.
Assist the business users with any issues encountered while using the Cognos Reporting Suite as well as training for new starters.
Gathering and documenting project requirements.
Scrutinising and testing reports to insure data quality.
Understanding the business, with particular attention to Marketing, Games and Gaming Finance procedures, to ensure the analytical needs and reporting requirements of the business are met.
To keep open and continue communications with your manager and your team with regard to workload and projects.

This role will suit a graduate with an interest in taking their first steps into a BI role, with an interest in gathering requirements and report development for a busy company heavily involved in Business Information. This role requires a person with a logical mind, a strong mathematical understanding and keenness to develop their knowledge and support the many business users. Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

Ability to analyse problems and implement solutions.
Good computer skills including a knowledge of databases and Excel.
Ability to learn in a fast changing work environment.
Very numerate & analytical with a good attention to detail.
Self starter with strong communication skills.
Adaptable and flexible with an ability to multi task.

Desirable

Relevant degree in economics, science, engineering, mathematics and statistics, IT, computer science or with relevant analytical capabilities.
Experience with SQL.
Experience within an analytical role.
Knowledge of Cognos (or an alternative Business Intelligence reporting tool).
Design skills (Photoshop/Illustrator)

Business Intelligence (BI) Objectives:

The Data Visualisation team forms part of the BI department, which has been an integral part of the Gamesys group since 2005.

Its objectives are:

To work closely with all technical teams to ensure useful, accurate data is being transferred to and from the correct systems, e.g. data visualisation system, email system, 3rd party software.
To fully understand the business requirements and internal systems in order to create and maintain key reporting tools and ensure data integrity.
To work closely with other teams within Business Intelligence driving a profitable data strategy
