Payment Cards Center Research Assistant / Research Analyst
Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia
Philadelphia - United States
S: Commensurate with Experience
The Center is seeking candidates with expertise in consumer credit and payments who are interested in conducting applied analysis and research on topics relevant to these markets. Qualified candidates may come from industry, consulting, academic, nonprofit, or government backgrounds.
The candidate's job grade will be commensurate with their experience, skills, and education.
A successful industry specialist combines knowledge of the subject matter, an ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, strong analytic skills, and a desire to conduct self-directed research through to completion. Working with the Center's management, specialists are expected to develop their own agenda for research and programming.
While much of the Center's written output is directed to a general audience, the center also produces technical papers suitable for publication in academic journals. The Center provides resources, such as data, access to coauthors, and travel funds to facilitate high-quality research publications.
Each year an industry specialist is expected to produce several papers (including a mix of original research and summaries of center events) and organize several workshops. Approximately every other year, he or she will lead the organization of a larger conference. Industry specialists present the results of their research at conferences directed toward industry, policy, and academic audiences. Specialists may also assist in briefings for senior management of the Bank and for policymakers.
Due to sensitive information, applicants for employment must be a U.S. citizen, or hold a permanent U.S. resident green card with the intent to become a U.S. citizen.
Minimum requirements for the position include extensive knowledge of consumer credit and payments obtained through three or more years of relevant work experience. An undergraduate degree is required, but an advanced degree in a field such as business, economics, finance, public policy, law, or statistics is preferred.
Additional formal training (such as a Ph.D.) will be taken into account when evaluating a candidate's relevant experience. Candidates should have demonstrated writing, presentation, and analytical skills.
