Job Purpose:
Lead and participate in research projects related to economics or involving econometric analysis as part of NCCI's research program. Communicate analysis and results to a variety of audiences, including research papers suitable for publication in peer-reviewed technical journals, NCCI publications written for generalist audiences, and seminars delivered to both internal and external audiences.

Major Duties:
Lead and participate in research projects relating to workers compensation insurance. Areas of research interest include: health care economics, market structure, labor economics, financial and risk economics pertaining to workers compensation insurance.

Major duties include: applying economic theory and econometric methods to research projects, creating project plans, participating in multidisciplinary research teams, preparing research publications and presentations targeted either to specialist or general audiences, and representing NCCI publicly to external audiences.

In addition, an Economist is expected to maintain NCCI's quality standards including quality control reviews, and to perform documentation tasks.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:
ï‚· PhD in Economics and a minimum of two years of research experience
ï‚· Candidates may also qualify with a Masters' degree in Economics and a minimum of five years of research experience.
ï‚· Comprehensive knowledge of applied econometrics, plus specialization in one of the following areas: health care economics, labor economics, financial economics, economics of risk and risk management
ï‚· Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead research projects
ï‚· Excellent collaborative and interpersonal communication skills
ï‚· Ability to write clearly, succinctly, and on-deadline to both professional and general audiences
ï‚· Excellent presentation skills, including public speaking

Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications will be considered favorably, but are not required:
ï‚· Track record of research publication, including professional and peer-reviewed journals
 Track record of publication – including articles, essays, and presentations ‒ expositing research or technical analyses to general audiences
ï‚· Professional experience in the insurance industry
