The Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) is looking to recruit a number of outstanding post-doctoral economists to join our research teams.

IFS is Europe's leading centre for microeconomic research and is an authoritative commentator on a wide range of policy issues. It is a politically independent registered charity aiming to bridge the gap between academia and the wider public.

The Research Directors are Orazio Attanasio, Richard Blundell and Rachel Griffith, and IFS has a large number of Research Fellows including James Banks, Eric French, Imran Rasul, along with many others (see www.ifs.org.uk/people).

Post-doctoral fellows are placed within a team of researchers at IFS whose research interests fit with the researcher's expertise and interests, typically including a mix of senior academics and IFS research staff. Post-doctoral fellows are expected to fully participate in the intellectual life of the IFS, and we will work with successful applicants to secure the best fit for their research interests and strengths and to encourage them to develop these to mutual advantage, with a particular focus on academic publication in top international journals.

We welcome applications from students expecting to complete a PhD by August 2018. Salary will vary to reflect the individual's role and experience. We offer support for research expenses, such as travel to conferences. Post-doctoral fellows do not have any formal teaching or administrative duties, but are expected to work at IFS, attend seminars and interact with other IFS researchers.
