The Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis (IGPA) and the Faculty of Business, Government and Law are delighted to announce an opening for a highly skilled, socially aware and self-motivated academic to join Australia's leading centre for microsimulation and policy modelling — NATSEM. NATSEM grapples with many of the fundamental public policy problems of our time from combatting social exclusion in education, health and housing to economic development and the management of government finances. We combine disciplinary expertise in applied public policy and the generation of evidence based research with a focus on practical problem-solving.

NATSEM is one of three research centres that comprise IGPA – the leading provider of research and education to the Commonwealth Government of Australia. The other centres include the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance led by the Australian Laureate, Professor John Dryzek and the Centre for Change Governance led by Professor Diane Stone. The Institute conducts interdisciplinary research in governance and policy analysis to deepen theory, advance knowledge and improve practice, in a way that is of significance to scholars and practitioners in Australia and internationally. The Institute was born from a belief that research, teaching and practice is enriched by bringing together the best research, cutting edge teaching and learning methods and what works in practice. The Institute is therefore dedicated to promoting outstanding public sector leadership, policy and delivery that works for the benefit of the public.

The successful candidates will possess the following qualities:

• outstanding track record in attracting grant funding (in particular category 1 funding)
• outstanding track record of publications and citation rates in high impact factor journals
• highly productive international research collaborations;
• academic leadership and research mentoring skills;
• a strong track record in developing successful collaborations and partnerships with appropriate funding and professional bodies; and,
• the ability to develop high quality postgraduate courses in economics and related studies.
