The unit includes Equity and Fixed Income research as well as Economic analysis and has staff in 25 locations around the world. Job Purpose:

Be part of the Global Economics Team to cover global economic developments and events and their political, social and technological drivers well as develop thematic research. The position is meant to be focused on quantitative analyses, including developing models and proprietary datasets for simulation, nowcasting, forecasting and other types of analyses. The candidate would also contribute to reports and presentations and would be in close liaison with the Citi Research Economics Team around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

Developing (and maintaining) quantitative models for nowcasting, forecasting, simulation and other types of analysis of macroeconomic and political economy developments in various regions and globally
Contribute to developing ideas for topics as well as specific approaches to address those topics in a rigorous and usually quantitative manner
Collecting, processing and analyzing economic, financial, social and political data from a variety of databases and using a variety of methodologies
Presenting and summarizing data, insights or relevant literature in a structured and concise manner
Contributing towards maintaining and developing marketing materials, in particular presentations and Citi Research publications
Other ad hoc tasks or projects, including handling bespoke requests from clients
Presenting to Citi Research's internal and external clients
Working closely with Citi's global team of economists and support staff to deliver the publication and presentation of research in a variety of printed and electronic formats

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience:
Minimum of 5 years relevant work (including research) experience in a data-intensive environment in economics, preferably in a financial institution or a policy institution
Experience in working with state-of-the-art quantitative (in particular macroeconometric) models
Experience in collecting, processing and analysing data in a largely self-directed manner.
Demonstration of an understanding and enthusiasm for economic, political economy and market analysis
Significant programming experience, such as MATLAB is preferred

Skills:
A high level of understanding and good working knowledge of applied statistical and macro econometric techniques
The ability to collect, manage, handle and analyze data and databases efficiently and rigorously
Familiarity with macroeconomic and financial concepts and some major economic databases
Demonstrated understanding of / strong interest in core economic methodologies
Ability to carry out qualitative research, including literature searches and summaries, informed evaluation of results and an intelligent read of the press and other media
High degree of comfort with statistical software (e.g. EViews, Stata, Matlab) and with MS office applications

Qualifications:
A Master's Degree is required; a PhD Degree in Economics or allied disciplines with a very strong econometric background is highly desirable
