Role/Responsibilities
Moody's Analytics Economics Division, located in West Chester, PA, is a leading independent provider of economic, financial, country, and industry research designed to meet the diverse planning and information needs of businesses, governments, and professional investors worldwide. The successful candidate would work with a new and expanding group that designs, implements, and operates algorithms to produce unique client-facing data sets and uses quantitative techniques to drive significant internal productivity and quality improvements. You would be responsible for developing, implementing, testing, and operating applications and processes that produce and evaluate data and models. This is a highly collaborative position, requiring frequent interaction with a variety of teams across the line of business.
Key details of the successful candidate's responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing quantitative products and product enhancements, for example:
o Systems design, analysis and evaluation
o Data estimation and imputing
o High-throughput numerical quality assessment
o Econometric forecasting
Identifying opportunities and executing programmatic solutions to significantly improve productivity
Assessing and improving the interfaces by which external and internal clients interact with the group's data and models
Utilizing analytical skills for interpreting business functions, understanding functional requirements, and researching and resolving system problems.
Contributing to the ongoing development of standards and best practices
Qualifications
Minimum education and work experience required for this position include a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Industrial engineering, or a relevant quantitative field; 0-2 years of relevant work experience; and work experience or coursework involving programming: C#, Python, R, STATA, Matlab or related programs. Other useful experience, but not required, include large-scale data analysis and computing, Hadoop, quantitative finance and valuation, or econometric forecasting.
