The Faculty of Economics in central Cambridge wishes to appoint a full time Research Assistant/Associate for 24 months to work on a project funded by a European Union Horizon 2020 Grant, entitled "A Dynamic Economic and Monetary Union" (ADEMU). The project is directed by Professor Giancarlo Corsetti (http://www.econ.cam.ac.uk/faculty/corsetti). The starting date for the position is April 1st 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The objective of the ADEMU research project is to reassess the overall fiscal and monetary framework in the EU and, in particular, the euro area. The main focus of the work in Cambridge will be on policies and reforms to ensure the long-term sustainability of EMU.

The appointed person will participate in the research group in Cambridge and contribute to the organization of research and dissemination activities. The tasks of the role holder will include the organization of conferences and working groups, analyzing data and writing papers for publication in top economics and science journals.

Strong knowledge of macroeconomic theory and empirical methods is essential. Econometric skills and programming skills, including experience in working with large datasets, are desirable. The successful candidate will manage their own workload, continually update knowledge in economics, in programming and in econometric analysis and engage in continuous professional development.

Candidates should have a Ph.D or have submitted their PhD by September 2016.

This fixed-term appointment is for 24 months from 1 April 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary will be at either Research Assistant Grade 5, (£24,775 to £28,695) or Research Associate Grade 7 (£28,695 to £37,394) on the University scale. Appointment as Research Associate is dependent on having a Ph.D. (or equivalent experience). Where a Ph.D. has been submitted but has yet to be awarded appointment will initially be made at Research Assistant and amended to Research Associate upon the award of Ph.D.
