Duties and Responsibilities

The Financial Computing and Analytics (FCA) group, which works closely with the UCL Centre for the Study of Decision-Making Uncertainty in the Faculty of Brain Sciences, is actively researching systemic risk in traditional financial and banking sectors as much as in the newly emerging field of peer-to-peer economics.

We are looking for an outstanding researcher with expertise in Experimental Psychology, Behavioural Economics or other relevant disciplines. The appointee will contribute to a research project on the behavioural characterisation of digital reputation and trust in Sharing Economy and P2P platforms. The appointee will work with members of the Financial Computing and Analytics (FCA) group at UCL (http://fincomp.cs.ucl.ac.uk/), and will collaborate with members of the UCL Centre for the Study of Decision Making Uncertainty (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/csdu). The Appointee's tasks will be to contribute to the theoretical work seeking to understand the core components of reputation and trust in digital economic exchange, to design and conduct behavioural experiments, and to analyse the data they will generate.

This post is funded for 12 months in the first instance.

Key Requirements

Candidates should have demonstrated a capability of conducting exciting world-class research in Experimental Psychology and related areas. They will be evaluated chiefly on their academic curricula and on the significance and novelty of their research to date. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £29,485 - £31,091 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).

A proven record of ability to manage time and delivering work on time is desirable. Our department is a highly collaborative environment, and we seek an appointee who enjoys working collaboratively within the department, and UCL overall. Candidates should further be committed to public communication, and to UCL's policy of equal opportunity, including working harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds.
