Senior Associate - Economist

Duties:
Utilize knowledge of quantitative, statistical and econometrics methods to forecast macroeconomic variables in Southern Cone countries, with a focus on Argentina. Apply principles of open macroeconomics and emerging markets to provide written research reports about economic and political developments in the countries concerned. Utilize experience interpreting the institutions, cultural and political environment underpinning economic policy in the assigned countries to prepare sophisticated analyses responding to data releases and unforeseen events, as well as thematic reports on specific topics applying in-depth quantitative and qualitative economic analysis. Communicate with the company's institutional clients, including fund managers in major financial centers globally, by making face-to-face presentations, phone calls and through special events, such as research trips to the relevant countries. Interact extensively with key policymakers and informed local observers regarding economic and political developments, including journalists, think-tank researchers, academics, independent analysts and market participants, in order to form views about the direction of policy making in the countries concerned. Interact with officials from International Financial Institutions, including the IMF, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank.

Qualifications

Requirements:
Requires a Master's degree in Economics or closely related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or as an Economist or related position. Must have 3 years of experience with: Applying quantitative, statistical and econometric methods to conduct economic analyses; Understanding open-economy macroeconomics and emerging markets; Analyzing Argentina's political and economic systems and institutions; Face-to-face communications with institutional investors; Producing research reports on complex macroeconomic issues; Maintaining relationships with policy makers and local observers in Argentina. 25% domestic and international travel required.
