Senior Economist - Middle East and Africa

The Corporate Economics and Strategic Issues Office has an opening for a Senior Economist. The economics office at Ford has primary responsibility for regional economic and auto market monitoring and forecasts, including GDP growth and inflation, as well as demographics, auto sales and segmentation, and economic and industry policy analysis.

Position Duties:

The position collaborates closely with Ford business partners in the regional business units, including monthly industry consensus meetings with finance and marketing & sales work partners.
The position reports directly to the Chief Economist within the Corporate Finance organization, and will be located at Ford's World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. The economist works within a small team of peers on global presentation materials used for Corporate business plan reviews, and for Board of Directors, earnings releases, and other internal and external presentations. These products require timely analysis and collaboration, and strong interpersonal and communications skills are desired.
Additional presentations and analysis are generated as requested by senior management, including scenarios for capital strategy, and financial market developments including interest rates and exchange rates. Long-term Industry Planning Volumes by country are a critical deliverable, updated twice yearly, and supported by in-depth analysis of structural economic and industry trends for each market within the region.

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in Economics
3-5 plus years of experience using economics in an applied business or research setting
Exposure to macroeconomic data and forecasting ideally covering emerging market economies or energy markets.
Ability to work independently and as well part of a global team.
Travel to meet with work partners in the regional business unit is typically undertaken 1-2 times per year.
