We advise clients in the public and private sectors on infrastructure investments, strategic planning, service development or business strategy. Our work involves the application of quantitative techniques and economic methods to the analysis of transportation policies, programs and projects.
Steer Davies Gleave is seeking to fill an opening in its New York City office for an experienced transportation economist. Candidates for this position should have demonstrated several years of experience both working on and managing studies that involve quantitative analysis of transportation policies, programs and projects, focusing on their economic aspects. Relevant areas of particular expertise should include:
• Transportation economics
• Econometrics
• Cost-benefit analysis and other applied microeconomics
• Transportation policy

Candidates for this position are expected to:
• Be responsible for the successful delivery of projects to clients, which include public transportation planning and operating agencies, private operators and lending institutions
• Take a leading role in formulating strategies and approaches to perform projects
• Handle day-to-day project management tasks, such as providing detailed technical direction; maintaining budget, quality, schedule and scope compliance; interacting with clients and teaming partners
• Perform hands-on project work as appropriate
• Oversee and train junior staff
• Interact with and make presentations to clients and third parties
• Work with senior staff on matters of business development, including taking the lead on proposal preparation efforts.
• Have a minimum of 7 years professional experience

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with an advanced degree in economics, regional science, or other related discipline. She or he will have excellent managerial abilities, solid technical knowledge, the ability to work well with others in a team setting, and very good writing and communications skills.
