MITRE is currently seeking a Staff Economist to support the growth of our portfolio of economics work across diverse sponsors. Presently this work includes econometrics, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, and economic modeling for the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Transportation, and in the critical infrastructure domains. Candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment with a collegial team of applied economists providing an analytic basis for decision-making with an emphasis on aviation and transportation economics. Key Functions:
Econometric and economic modeling and analysis, cost benefit analysis, handling large datasets and data driven analysis, policy and investment analysis, sponsor engagement and support, economic analysis in support of regulatory policy, pre- and post-implementation analysis, forecasting, and applied research.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Necessary skills include econometrics (time series, discrete choice, panel, and additional methods), economic analysis, handling large data sets, and policy and investment analysis. Experience with computable general equilibrium modeling is highly desired, not required. Aviation, transportation, and critical infrastructure analysis experience desired, not required. Strong attention and accountability to detail required. Expect team environment and self-motivated, highly trained professionals. This is an applied economics environment where tasks are rarely routine and often require novel approaches and creative thinking. Strong attention to detail and accountability required. Oral and written communication skills are essential. The ability to work across diverse teams, departments, and other organizations with varied backgrounds in a collaborative environment is required. This is an entry level position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Training in computable general equilibrium modeling is highly desired, not required.

BS with internship experience.
