Executive Director and Senior Economist

The position of Senior Economist will have an industry-leading role in preparing research, communicating economic, market, and ecosystem analysis through writing, presentations, and media opportunities, as a proxy for the Chief Economist. The Senior Economist will be expected to have exemplary presentation, writing, and quantitative analytical skills for the analysis of economics and market data. Many good quants lack writing or presentation skills and vice versa.

This role requires all three at a very high standard for the industry,
1. Independently analyze the global macro-economic environment, conduct quantitative analysis, and prepare research reports for external use and publication.
2. Design presentation decks and make speeches at industry events representing the organization ¿ probably 12-15 external presentations per year at industry events and another 12-15 presentations at CD&S and Business Lines sponsored breakfast or dinner events.
3. Be media trained, and work closely with Corporate Communications to respond to media requests about the global economic and market environment and generally enhance the organizations media and PR presence.
4. Serve as a quantitative analysts and team member on selected ecosystem and business analytical projects as directed by the department MD. Integrate economic insights into the fabric of the whole team¿s research work on the client and competitor ecosystem and business analytics.
5. Make internal presentations on the global economic and market environment as a proxy for the Chief Economist, including participation in CD&S, Business Line, and Finance department meetings.

A PhD in economics is not required. CFA is highly valued. We also prefer 10 years or more of experience as an economist or research analyst working with portfolio managers or traders, preferably in the asset management or global-macro hedge fund world, although financial system experience is also helpful.

This position requires excellent writing and presentation skills. Evidence of research publications is required, both business and academic if possible. Also, references regarding presentation skills are also required.

We also desire strong evidence of quantitative skills, portfolio modeling, statistical approaches to market analysis, etc. We are focused on dynamic quantitative systems, including Bayesian systems, so special consideration will be given to candidates with background in these areas.
