We have a vacancy for an applied economist/researcher with strong quantitative skills to join our research team based in Brighton engaged in research on employment policy and human resource management.

IES researchers work on a diverse range of research topics, including: welfare-to-work, work, health and well-being; employment relations; labour market disadvantage; learning and skills; and HR management.

The successful candidate will be expected primarily to support an expanding area of research on the analysis of policy impacts and costs and benefits of employment and labour market data. He/she will also feed into other areas of our work with research activities such as literature searches and reviews; interviews; focus groups and report writing.

Applicants should have excellent academic qualifications in economics or empirical social sciences (preferably at Masters level or higher), a high degree of numeracy and confidence in data handling with advanced statistical packages. Previous work experience in an applied research environment would also be desirable. A good understanding of UK and European public employment policy is essential.

Salary £21,750 to £25,600, or, £27,200 to £33,400 + benefits, depending on experience
