Job Description
Eaton located in Cleveland, OH has an opening for an Associate Economist. The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

-Monitor U.S. and/or International economies and selected Eaton primary markets.
-Assist Economics management and team in the preparation of economic and market forecasts.
-Work with Corporate Development and Planning staff, Treasury, Eaton operations and Eaton Senior Management, in analytical studies, valuation and merger analysis, and presentations to outside groups.

Essential Functions:
-Review daily economic releases from U.S. Commerce & Labor Depts, Federal Reserve Board, comparable international sources.
-Prepare written and graphic analysis of economic and industry trends.
-Assist in the preparation of market monitors for Eaton's end-markets.
-Assist in developing forecasts of Eaton's Primary Market Indicators.
-Monitor a major global geographic region's economies and Eaton primary markets (Europe or Latin America or Far East/Asia).
-Occasionally present economic and primary market outlook to operations.
-Participate in periodic conference calls with operating groups to discuss market conditions.
-Prepare and present relevant materials at the Monthly Economic Outlook meetings with the CFO.
-Participate in the profit and strategic planning process, specifically in the development of economic assumptions.
-Monitor financial markets.
-Track developments in computer hardware, software, and productivity enhancing technologies. Develop competence to mastery in platforms selected as company or department standards.

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)

Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Statistics or Finance from an accredited institution is required.
-Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Position Criteria:
-Familiarity with economics, statistics, and financial market measures and terminology.
-Familiarity with aerospace, electrical, off-highway machinery or motor vehicle markets and/or capital goods markets data and terminology.
-Familiarity with basic statistical techniques such as least squares regression.
-Familiarity with personal computers and functionality with function supporting technology and software.
-Increasing his or her understanding of the United States (North American) economy.
-Gaining an understanding of the economies of the major global regions in which Eaton does business.
-Improving our current analysis and forecasts of Eaton primary markets in aerospace, automotive, electrical, hydraulics, filtration, truck, power quality, and other important industrial segments.
-Understanding the factors that drives key Eaton markets and margins in global economies.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's Degree in Economics, Statistics or Finance from an accredited institution is preferred.
