Associate Professorship/Professorship of Economics for Development

Salary: £44,620 – £59,914 p.a. plus generous substantive benefits

Applications are invited for an Associate Professorship of Economics for Development. The post is full-time and upon completion of a successful review, permanent. The appointment will be made in association with a tutorial fellowship at Pembroke College. The post-holder will also be entitled to receive a pensionable College housing allowance of £7,575 (for those who choose not to live in College), as well as a range of other College and Department allowances and benefits.

The post-holder will be a strong applied economics researcher, whose work is focused on development. S/he will be expected to teach and supervise at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including supervising doctoral students in the Department and teaching on the MSc in Economics for Development, and the MPhil in Development Studies, in addition to contributing to administration and examining. The post-holder will also have responsibility for delivering undergraduate tutorial teaching in Economics at Pembroke College.

Applicants should have a doctorate in economics, with an outstanding, world-class portfolio of research and publications in development economics, and an interest in empirical research as the evidence basis for policy design; a broad research interest across countries and continents of the Global South; ability and experience of teaching development economics at postgraduate level and of teaching undergraduate micro and/or macroeconomics. Candidates should also have a record of securing competitive external funding for research and managing research projects and teams, and of appropriate policy experience on economic development issues, as well as the ability and commitment to participate in the wider academic and administrative activities of the Department and the College.
