Energy:

We work with energy leaders to aggressively strengthen their enterprises and help them make choices that ensure energy reliability, efficiency, and serviceability, as well as improve business performance. We focus on issues across the entire electric and natural gas energy value chain including fuels, generation (renewable, fossil, hydro, nuclear), transmission, energy markets, energy delivery, and consumption (including energy efficiency and demand response).

Responsibilities

Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NCI) is looking for an economist, statistician, or data scientist with experience in applied econometrics and sampling to join our Energy Efficiency consulting group within the Energy practice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects related to energy efficiency, demand response, innovative pricing incentive ratemaking, market analysis, and integration of supply-side and demand-side resources in planning. The position involves working with clients involved in a wide range of planning and evaluation activities within these subject areas, and interacting with government agencies, utility staff, third-party program implementers, equipment manufacturers, trade organizations, and efficiency advocates.

Developing and applying cutting-edge econometric and statistical models to energy data to isolate energy efficiency, demand response and behavioral program impacts;
Developing interview and survey guides for market actors, including end users;
Applying and advising on quantitative methods to develop sample designs;
Working with technology experts (engineers) to incorporate subject matter knowledge into statistical models;
Providing detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on energy-related activities to inform work plan design or other project activities;
Creatively presenting project results, including the use of graphics;
Preparing reports, presentations and other documents for clients;

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree. in economics or applied economics, statistics, or data science. A focus on energy is preferred.
Minimum of one year of relevant experience in the energy/utility industry (preferably related to evaluation of demand-side management programs)
Analytics expertise, with experience in applying econometric and statistical models.
Experience with one or several econometrics and programming packages, such as R, SAS, Matlab, or Stata. Proficiency in R is a plus.
Excellent verbal and writing skills
Willingness to travel for client interaction and to market econometric services.
