The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is recruiting a Doctoral researcher (PhD student) in Macroeconomics

A specialisation is foreseen in modern growth theory and its empirical implications.

• 36 months fixed-term contract, extendable up to 48 months
• Full-time position (40 h/week)

Your Role
• The doctoral researcher will be working within the Department of Economics and Management (DEM). The doctoral researcher is expected to contribute to research projects in the area of dynamic macroeconomics. A particular interest in the economics of automation, demographic economics, and sustainable economic growth would be an asset.
• The candidate's main task will be to prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of dynamic macroeconomics under the supervision of Professor Andreas Irmen. The thesis work will be undertaken at the University of Luxembourg but can also be part of a joint supervision with another university.
• Contribute to the teaching of classes ranging from one to three hours per week, of small group teachings and tutorials.

Your Profile
• Master's degree in Economics with a strong focus on quantitative methods (comparable to the Master of Science in Quantitative Economics and Finance (MScQEF) offered at the University of Luxembourg (see, https://wwwfr.uni.lu/formations/fdef/msc_in_quantitative_economics_and_finance)).
• Have the linguistic skills to evolve in a multilingual environment. Fluency in English is necessary. A good understanding of a second language, German or French, will be considered an advantage.
