Economic Analyst

This role is a 6 - 12 month Fixed term Contract / Secondment opportunity

The Economics Institute will originate and publish economic research as well as providing valuable insight to other colleagues across a wide range of sectors and service lines. In addition the role will provide a valuable link between the SIGHT team, which is responsible for driving all thought leadership across KPMG in the UK, to the highly successful Economics and Disputes practice.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Your role will be dedicated to researching and producing high quality thought leadership for publication across a broad range of channels. You will write and produce articles demonstrating insight and opinion on how economic developments can impact our clients and the sector in which they operate.
- You will help to produce compelling and concise output which addresses complex issues in a way that provides valuable commercial insights for our clients.
- You will have thorough knowledge of macroeconomic data sources as well as leading economics commentators
- You will work with the sector experts and client service teams to support and challenge thought leadership projects from an economic perspective;
- You will provide a valuable link to the wider Economics and Disputes team in order to benefit from their direct client experiences.

Qualifications and Skills

- A Masters level degree in Economics with strong specialisation in macroeconomics is essential and a Phd degree desirable. Experience in development/growth economics and exposure to issues in both emerging and developed economies is desirable.

Experience and Background

The core skill is an ability to use economic theory and econometrics to turn facts and figures into a compelling narrative, usually with a precise quantitative conclusion.
- Good practical knowledge of the contemporary macroeconomic scene and the problems and challenges it presents to business
- Experience in the practical use of econometrics
