Economics Associate

An Associate Economist assists in the analysis of the economies of various U.S. states and regions, public policy issues and events related to monetary policy, bank regulation, payments systems, the financial markets, and the overall state of the U.S. and global economies. This position will predominately focus on regional economic issues.

Some day-to-day activities include:

Compiling, reviewing, and assessing economic and financial data from journals, market sources, and government reports.
Performing econometric, computational, and analytical research and running financial, banking, macroeconomic and forecasting models.
Assist with writing, preparing various weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on state and local economies.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years experience in research supporting the capital markets industry or the financial services industry.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree (economics or related field preferred) with a strong academic record.
2+ years of experience in research, investment banking or leveraged finance.
Other key skills would include: a background in credit, proven writing ability, advanced user of Microsoft Office applications; with an emphasis on Excel, Word and Power Point.
High level of personal motivation and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Sound analytical thinking and high attention to detail is a must.
The candidate should be comfortable functioning both independently and as a part of a team, be able to work in a high-energy environment and be able to meet stringent deadlines and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

MA in Economics or MBA with a concentration in Economics.
5+ years of related work experience preferably in applied business economics.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in SAS.
