The role

The International Research department provides support to all BNP Paribas Real Estate business lines in all countries where the company has offices. It is at the heart of a network of research teams across Europe. The International department has embedded economists within several of the national teams to provide technical support for the national teams and to act as liaison with the International team.

In the UK the Research department provides support to all UK business lines and works closely with the UK Marketing Department.

The department supports the work of business lines through data analysis, report preparation, presentations to clients and technical advice. It commissions research from third party consultants.

The department has a low fee target in recognition of its contribution to the profile of the company. It will re-charge to other departments where a fee is being received and will accept consultancy work where possible.

The Associate Director will provide technical support to the UK team and will be responsible for providing forecasts of the UK property market. She or he will also be a member of an international team co-ordinated by the Senior Economist within the International Research department providing pan-European property market forecasts.

Roles and responsibilities

Main Accountabilities

· Providing forecasts of the UK property market and building statistical models of the UK property market.

· Preparing commentary on the UK economy and the UK property market and making presentations to internal and external clients.
· Supporting the business lines and initiatives as agreed with the Head of Research.
· Working with the international and other national research departments to achieve corporate business strategies.
· Responsible for managing small projects or subsections of major projects.
· Responsible, with the Head of Research, for managing the department budget.
· Working independently on most assignments and receiving guidance only on unusual issues.
· Managing relationships with the UK Marketing Department and UK business lines at a senior level on a day to day basis.
· Identifying new research initiatives to support business lines.
· Contributing to the leadership and development of the UK team.
· Shares knowledge with, and provides information to colleagues and teams.
· Enhances BNP Paribas Real Estate's reputation through successful delivery.
· Builds own network within national and international business lines.

Person specification

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

· Good degree and preferably a masters or higher degree.
· Experience in the use of econometric techniques to build real estate forecasting models.
· Experience of research in a real estate environment.

Key Skills/Competencies

Technical knowledge

· Understanding of the economic and geographic principles applied to property markets.
· Understanding of econometric techniques as applied to property markets.
· IT literate and confident in using Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access and a statistical package, such as SPSS, E-views or similar.

Commercial orientation

· A strong sense of commercial awareness and the need to consistently add value.
· An ability to clearly understand the client's business and their property agenda.
