Job Description
Candidate will fill an analyst-level position within the US economics team, reporting to the Chief US Economist. Applicant should have a BA in economics in a similar field of quantitative study. Applied work experience in statistics/econometrics a must. The economist in this position will conduct a variety of analyses evaluating and modeling the US economy. This role includes scope for further development that would entail published research, internal teach-ins, independent client-facing presentations and attendance at morning meetings with Morgan Stanley's sales force.

Specific Responsibilities
•Handling internal and external client requests
•Maintaining the proprietary macro indicators for the US
•Participating in weekly conference calls and attending morning sales and trading meetings
•Producing research reports on a regular basis
•Tracking macroeconomic data releases
•Participating in collaborative research projects, which may include survey work and ad-hoc modeling
•Facilitating communication with colleagues on other teams (both in the US and globally)

Qualifications
Skills Required
•Experience in covering US monetary policy; Federal Reserve work experience a plus
•Advanced business writing skills: ability to produce clear and concise written English
•Ability to communicate effectively with others
•Track record of demonstrated accomplishments
•Strong understanding of US macro data and sources
•Strong quantitative skills
•Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
•Modeling skills: candidate must demonstrate advanced knowledge with Excel spreadsheets and advanced statistical analysis
•Knowledgeable in Bloomberg, Haver Analytics, Eviews/STATA
