About you
We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual who's keen to join a fast paced and dynamic team at the heart of NFU's policy department. To be successful in this diverse and challenging role you will have the ability to provide timely, relevant and accurate information and analysis. You will be a team player with the ability to build strong internal relationships as well as identifying and developing relevant stakeholder connections.

You will be able to synthesise and communicate technical and complex analytical information effectively at all levels. You will have the confidence to bring your expertise to the table, influencing, persuading and providing strategic advice to others as and when appropriate.

You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent and proven problem solving abilities. You will be adept at prioritising a busy schedule and work effectively under pressure when required. Astute and politically sensitive, you'll be comfortable delivering lively and informative presentations to a variety of audiences as well as expertly handling media enquiries.

About the role
As the NFU Economist, you will prepare and deliver specialist and strategic advice on key farming sectors to support the development and promotion of evidence-based NFU policies. You will also provide analysis and insight to a range of colleagues, members and opinion formers.

You will work with colleagues to anticipate information needs, provide insight on emerging issues and influence policy making. 

You will play a key role in keeping the NFU abreast of relevant economic and business developments, and ensure that our lobbying voice is recognised for its analytical integrity and relevance.
