The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Collects, organizes and evaluates data relating to economic issues, utilizing knowledge of available data sources and various econometric techniques and economic models.

Evaluate existing research findings to determine applicability to the client engagement

Support the development and application of economic models and the interpretation of results and will put data into report format, help draft results, and arrange for preparation of graphic illustrations of research findings

Work independently or assist senior economists

Researches local and regional economic issues, and provides consultation regarding the development of dynamic regional and local economies, as well as urban and rural regeneration.

Proposes solutions to issues such as labor markets, education and skills, deprivation and social inclusion, inward investment and business development.

May draft and prepare reports based on project outcomes.


Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in economics or equivalent
Experience with MS EXCEL or ACCESS (including VBA macros) and econometric programs
Experience in basic statistics/applied econometrics or forecasting
Sound knowledge of economic and econometric methods and the ability to apply them
Knowledge of GIS a plus
Attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage own time effectively
Excellent data management skills
Good oral/written communications and organizational skills
Commitment to quality and providing objective analysis
Ability to interact with clients on a regular basis
Has strong academics record, reflecting strong technical skills and high quality/standards of work; staffed on wide range of projects and tasks
Works under direction of more experienced economists and/or manager

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in economics or equivalent
