Qualcomm is a world leader for generating innovation and Intellectual Property (IP). Qualcomm's IP department is looking for a candidate with a strong background in econometrics/statistics. The candidate will be directly involved in research projects on topics critical to IP policy issues, and staying on top of the IP law and economics literature to highlight the relevant material for various stakeholders. The candidate will also be responsible for building statistical models and tools that will help in driving strategic IP decisions and optimally managing Qualcomm's large IP portfolio. The position requires working in a multidisciplinary cross-functional team of professionals including lawyers, engineers and business developers.

Responsibilities
As an economist in Qualcomm's IP Department, the candidate will be responsible for performing novel and relevant research in the area of IP and standard setting and perform statistical analysis to support the department's initiatives.
Responsibilities include: writing papers and reports, generating large and reliable data-sets from multiple sources, building new models, performing robust statistical analysis, and interfacing with other departments within Qualcomm, as well as external partners.

Basic Qualifications
Masters with 2+ years of work experience/Ph.D. in Economics (or Statistics) from a top-tier institution is required.
Ph.D. preferred.
Experience in IP or technology is preferred.
