Organization setting:
The position is located in the macroeconomic modeling division of CEPREMAP. The team prepares monthly short and medium term forecasts of the world economy and presents them to a worldwide network of public institutions. Working languages are English and French.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the chief economist, the incumbent conducts the monitoring of the euro area and prepares the short and medium term forecast. In this regard the incumbent:
- supervises the collection of data (macroeconomic databases, short term indicators) and pertinent economic developments within the four main countries of the euro area and of the zone as a whole;
- prepares a short term forecast for the euro area, in coordination with economists in charge of other areas;
- implements the forecast using the worldwide model developed in the division;
- assists the chief economist in the design of the medium term scenario for the euro area;
- conducts topical research relevant to the forecasting process;
- presents the analysis of the forecast to various audiences;
- actively participates in the largest community of forecasters

Competencies:
Knowledge of international macroeconomics, macroeconomic modeling and forecasting. Ability to work within an international team. Excellent communication skills.

Education and work experience:
A master's degree in economics (macroeconomics, monetary economics, international economics, DSGE modeling) and three years experience in a forecasting department. A PhD in economics is an asset. Fluency in English and French.
