YOUR ROLE: As a Forecast Analyst, you will work with a team of analysts to analyze and report on data to help Improve the forecast accuracy on hundreds of thousands of SKUs, optimize product pricing to improve competitiveness, satisfy manufacturer constraints, reduce supplier charges, and maintain responsible inventory levels, and optimize inventory replenishment, maximize profitability, increase GMROI, control in-stock percent, reduce weak inventory, and improve other key performance indicators. Because we rely on the Retail Analytics department to make smart decisions, we give you great tools and great colleagues. You will have access to some of the best analytics tools and software in the industry, including Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop, Aster, SAS, R, Java, Ruby, Perl and others. WHAT YOU WOULD DO:
Continuously improve website testing, merchandise planning, marketing spend optimization and other services provided by Retail Analytics
Research new data sources and analytical tools
Learn and apply retail analytics knowledge to advocate changes to improve organization, department, and/or customer
Use and support database applications and analytical tools
Report and interpret data rapidly and thoughtfully
Communicate regularly and effectively with team members, management and our internal users
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Employed big data techniques in data warehousing, data reporting, statistical forecasting and/or computer science to discover important insights
Demonstrated ability to assess, refactor and code SQL or procedural languages (Java, Perl or Ruby) that interact with SQL databases. Can thoughtfully decide when to use SQL, a procedural language, or (extra credit) a functional language to perform work
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as data science, computer science, statistics, economics or quantitative business administration
Used agile management techniques for operational tasks, strategic projects and highly reliable delivery to deadlines, and to improve operational, strategic and innovation processes
Prior use of Oracle, SAS, Teradata, Aster, Microstrategy and/or other data science tools
Prior use of, Ruby, Perl and/or other procedural programming languages
Prior use of complex Excel pivot tables
Produced daily reports of KPIs from production data to guide a business
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
