Department/College Description

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:
The College of Liberal Arts is one of nine colleges within Rochester Institute of Technology. The College has over 170 faculty in 13 departments in the social sciences, humanities, and the arts. The College currently offers fourteen undergraduate degree programs and five Master degrees, serving over 700 students. The College of Liberal Arts at RIT offers a unique, technology-infused approach to the traditional Liberal Arts education. We strive to produce well-rounded, intellectual students with the motivation to make an important impact on the world. The Department of Economics comprises 11 full-time faculty members who strongly value both research and teaching. The Department offers a B.S. in Economics. Undergraduate students are encouraged to undertake collaborative research projects with faculty, some of which are published in refereed journals. The program also values interdisciplinarity in faculty research and in the curriculum; in this regard, the Department has many double majors in addition to solo Economics majors.

Detailed Job Description

The Rochester Institute of Technology's Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning mid-August, 2019. We are looking for a teacher-scholar with research interests that fall within JEL code E: Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to our growing relationships with other disciplines at RIT such as Political Science, Psychology, and Public Policy. Teaching responsibilities will include Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory as well as other courses as needed by the department. We are seeking an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to RIT's core values, honor code, and statement of diversity.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of PhD. in Economics prior to the date of hire.
• Possession of research interests that fall within JEL code E: Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics.
• Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
• Some teaching experience as a teaching assistant or instructor of a course.
