Junior Economist and Market Strategist - Emerging Market Debt

Role Context
The Junior Economist is a newly created role to provide support for the growing Emerging Market Debt team. The team is composed of several portfolio managers and one economist, who analyse and invest in over 60 emerging market economies. The investment process is focused on country macroeconomic analysis and modelling.

Role Purpose
Provide support to the EMD team by working closely with the Emerging Markets Economist. Responsibilities will include the maintenance of macroeconomic models, the construction of country spreadsheets used to support the team's weekly macro meeting, as well as some written work. Help in preparing presentations could also be required.

Key Outcomes
The Junior Economist is expected to take gradual ownership of some of the models that are an essential part of the EMD team's investment process. She/He will also deepen her/his knowledge of emerging market economies, allowing her/him to take an increasingly important role in participating and drafting the outcome of the team's regular meetings.

Qualifications

Key Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications
Economics to degree level (Masters an advantage)
An interest in Emerging Markets
Good knowledge of econometric software (Eviews, Stata or Matlab)
Expert knowledge of Excel
Experience using Datastream or other macroeconomic database

Good writing skills
Attention to details
