Our Business
The quantitative research division within global macro research is an integral component of the products the firm offers to clients. We provide clients with actionable investment ideas and solutions in the equity derivatives market. Research is based on quantitative analysis of the market environment in combination with macro factors, requiring a broad and deep understanding of the relevant derivative instruments and client risk/return profiles.
The summer programme focuses on quantitative research within the Research division and includes the equity derivatives, interest rate derivatives, commodities and macro (economics/FX/rates) research groups. These groups produce client-driven quantitative research in some of the fastest growing areas in the global financial markets.

Overview
As a Summer analyst within Macro Economic Research and Strategy, you will:
• Gain experience of working on impactful quantitative projects requiring strong analytical skills in a dynamic environment
• Develop a network of internal professionals, mentors, peers and possible future stakeholders across asset markets
• Develop the necessary confidence and experience to question and challenge senior team members/managers regarding investment advice, trade ideas and risks as well communicate and present complex concepts in clear and simple terms
• Gain insight into tradable financial instruments and structures within equity, interest rate, FX and commodity derivatives markets

Training
Your internship will involve rotations amongst different desks within the business group offering you a broad overview of the business. Your training includes:
• One week induction and training programme with classroom instruction
• Summer Senior Speaker Series, featuring global & divisional presentations by top executives
• Opportunities to interact with senior bankers and network with peers
• Constructive feedback sessions through performance evaluations

Qualifications
Candidates will have a strong academic background in quantitative analysis (econometrics/ statistics/applied mathematics). Study of finance and economics or financial mathematics related subjects at masters or PhD level is desirable. Candidates must also show a long-term interest in the field of quantitative finance and demonstrate achievements towards their pursuit of a career in this field. Team-working, leadership and problem-solving skills, plus creativity are key qualities, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and interact with a variety of people.
