The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is seeking a Media Relations and Marketing Associate to publicize the work of AEI scholars specializing in economics, financial services, and tech policy.

Seeking a full-time media relations and marketing associate to create and implement media and marketing strategies for the AEI economic, financial services, and tech policy departments. Reporting to the Executive Director of Media Relations and Strategic Marketing, the Media Relations & Marketing Associate will collaborate with other associates and the Director of Public Affairs to increase impact and visibility in the media for economic, financial services, and tech policy initiatives. Responsibilities include pitching and coordinating interviews with AEI scholars and experts, and promoting AEI research to news reporters, opinion editors, and broadcast journalists. The associate will also promote conferences and events, arranging briefings for reporters, including small private meetings between scholars and reporters. Writing responsibilities include pitches, news releases, and editing of op-eds and other commentaries.

Applicants should be interested in, and have knowledge and understanding of public policy issues, especially in the areas of economics, financial services, and tech policy. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to translate complex policy into a clear, lively, and straightforward prose. They must possess the ability to balance and prioritize numerous projects and initiatives in a frequently busy, deadline-driven, and demanding environment. One year related work experience is preferred. Being knowledgeable about reporters, national news bureaus, network and cable news outlets and national radio broadcasts is a major plus. The ideal candidate must also have the ability to think strategically, work well under pressure, and collaborate with other team members. Bachelor's degree in economics, government, political science, or journalism is preferred.
