Do you want to use your quantitative analysis skills and creative thinking to answer key policy questions facing decision makers in the education system? We are recruiting Research Economists / Quantitative Researchers to join our team of policy researchers.

As a Research Economist / Quantitative Researcher at NFER, you'll use your analytical expertise to answer pressing policy and practice questions facing education today. Within the Centre for Policy and Practice Research Development team, you'll work with economists and other researchers to develop new, innovative ideas for insightful research on issues including teacher recruitment and retention, the role of the education system in facilitating movement into employment, social mobility and the structure of the education system. You will also use key eduation datasets such as the National Pupil Database, School Workforce Census and Longitunidal Education Outcomes dataset to produce new analysis and insights.

Requirements:
- Degree or higher degree in economics or in another subject which covers applied quantitative research methods, including statistical analysis, regression modelling and/or impact evaluation methods.
- Experienced user of statistical software e.g. Stata, SPSS, R.
- Effective communication of research to non-technical audiences

Desirable attributes:
- A Masters degree
- Experience of working with large administrative datasets, ideally in education (e.g. National Pupil Database, School Workforce Census)
- Work experience in a research, policy, government or thinktank environment.
