The Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center (GFLEC) is dedicated to advancing research and solutions that open the door to universal financial literacy and financial well-being. In working toward that vision, GFLEC has positioned itself as the world's leading incubator for financial literacy research, policy, and solutions. GFLEC launched in 2011 at the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB) in Washington, D.C. Since then, it has pioneered breakthrough tools to measure financial literacy, spearheaded the research field, developed and advised on educational programs, and crafted policy guidelines aimed at advancing financial knowledge in the United States and around the world. While the position is housed in Foggy Bottom, occasional travel (including overnight and during the day) maybe required.
This position is responsible for planning, conducting and supervising research at a high level, by using quantitative and qualitative methods to design and develop, collect, analyze and report data activities. Using extensive experience and judgment, this role will plan independent research, analyze and interpret data, publish results, represent the university at conferences and meetings, develop new theories and methodologies, and will lead and direct the work of lower level research staff, while transferring technical expertise.

More details on the job responsibilities are presented below:

-Coordinate research efforts on multiple research projects (for example, randomized trial field experiments and collaboration with international research centers).
-Seek and identify fundraising and research opportunities that strategically support GFLEC's mission.
-Write grant proposals to seek funding from government as well as private institutions.
-Coordinate with Assistant Research Professor in Financial Literacy on timely delivery of reports and on grants' management.
-Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the strategies that furthers the Center's research mission.
-Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Master's degree plus 5 years of experience or a PhD plus 2 years of experience in a related discipline to include at least 2 years of research and/or college level teaching in a field basic to the work to be performed. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Desired Qualifications:

-Experience in household economics, econometrics and applied empirical work.
-Ability to use statistical software (excellent knowledge of STATA is critical).
-Exceptional writing skills.
-Attention to detail.
-Excellent critical thinking skills.
-Excellent problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
-Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
