Bank of America's Economic Scenario Development Team is seeking a Sr. US Economist/Econometrician. The Economic Scenario Development Team is responsible for econometric modeling and scenario generation to support CCAR, stress testing, and other enterprise risk management activities. The current model coverage includes U.S. national macro-economic models, U.S. regional macro-economic models, International models, FX models, interest rates and other financial market variable models.
As part of the Economic Scenario Development Team, the candidate will be responsible for economic theory support, model prototyping and testing, verbal and written communication, economic scenario review, narrative, and documentation. Our work is fast-paced and intellectually challenging, and we interact daily with quantitative modelers, and senior bank management to improve our models and adapt to changing business needs. Previous econometric modeling experience is desirable but not required for this position, but excellent communication and aptitude for learning is.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
PhD in Economics, Econometrics or equivalent, with a quantitative focus and/or experience;
Extensive economic theory and intuition;
Knowledge of financial markets, CCAR and stress testing;
Experience in econometric modeling through employment, PhD studies or both, especially pertaining to US macroeconomics, interest rates, and financial markets
Solid statistics theory;
Strong desire to work individually and with a group on complex problem solving;
Strong attention to detail;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills:
2+ years Sr. economist experience in a major financial institution;
Programming skills in SAS, R, S, Matlab or equivalent;
Willingness to apply economic theory to stress testing models and help interpret model outcomes;
Ability to work in a time sensitive, market driven environment
