Responsibilities

BBVA Research is looking for an economist with 3-5 years of relevant experience that can support the bank's Big Data and Behavioral Economic initiatives and meet the client demands for strategic economic analysis.

Essential Functions:

Approach problems with an objective and empirical mindset, asking timely and relevant and succinct questions.
Bring a critical mindset that can deliver forward-looking and strategic analysis to top management.
Conduct research on macroeconomic trends, industries, regional and local economies.
Draft economic briefings, coordinate and contribute to Agile research projects.
Create professional quality graphics and other summary materials.
Assist in the preparation and the delivery of presentations to BBVA stakeholders.
Identify and solve complex data and statistical problems.
Handle data using Microsoft Excel, Stata, R, SAS, E-views and other programs.
Fulfil internal and external requests under tight deadlines.
Deal with complex situations, and provide creative and innovative solutions to top management.
Collaborate with team members of BBVA Research located outside of the U.S.
Build and maintain professional networks to support BBVA strategic goals/objectives and commitment to society.

Qualifications

Masters or PhD Degree in Economics.
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience in applied economic analysis/research and/or financial sector.
Excellent written and oral communication in English and strong interest in writing reports.
Unquestionable commitment with quality and deadlines.
Desire and ability to work in a multicultural environment
Proven interest in financial/banking organizations.
Capable of working efficiently alone or in teams.
Experience working with large datasets or big data techniques.
Strong computer/coding skills.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, Tableau and Plotly
