JOB PURPOSE
Formulate and implement statistical capacity building technical assistance projects. Undertake methodological research to help national statistical systems of developing member countries (DMCs) adapt appropriate statistical methods for improving their respective official statistics. Contribute to the production and dissemination of ADB's flagship statistical publication and statistical databases. Contribute to and provide technical advice on ADB knowledge projects that require the use of advanced data collection methods and analytical techniques. Work with broad policies and objectives, working directly with clients, with supervision for critical tasks.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
• Supervisor: Director, ERDI
• The following staff positions may be supervised by the incumbent:
o Administrative Staff
o National Staff

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Master's Degree, or equivalent, in Statistics, Economics or related fields. University degree in Statistics, Economics or related fields combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s, may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
• Sound knowledge of international standards, manuals, handbooks and classifications in the areas of economic and social statistics and international data dissemination standards.
• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably on economic statistics.
• International experience working in several countries
• Strong leadership and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a multinational and multicultural environment.
• Ability to liaise and collaborate effectively with internal and external clients.
• Experience in using statistical software and ICT in improving data compilation, analysis and dissemination.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Experience in working with statistical organizations (such as national statistical agencies).
