Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Risk Management and Legal Services Section of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund ("UNJPSF" or "the Fund”). The Section is mandated to protect the legal interests and financial stability of the Fund through provision of integrated advice, technical leadership and monitoring to the Fund's management and governing bodies in plan design, risk management, legal and compliance matters. The Statistician will report to the Chief, Risk management and Technical Services Unit.

Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Statisticians will be responsible for the following duties:
•Organizes, designs, plans and carries out the collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation and dissemination of statistical data by selecting methods of data collection, selecting and implementing methods for checking collected data, and selecting and implementing appropriate methods for data processing for incorporation into databases.
•Participates in the development, implementation and management of statistical and other database(s).
•Provides research and technical support on data collection programmes, economic and financial data by country and other related information.
•Participates in the development or revision of standards on statistical concepts, definitions and classifications by performing methodological research.
•Prepares draft technical documents for international, Pension Board and expert group meetings and assists in drafting relevant reports.
•Organizes and participates in seminars, working groups and expert meetings as a technical resource person.
•Guides trains and supervises general service staff.
-Manage all actuarial and factor tables used in the IPAS pension administration system and published on the Fund's website. This requires monitoring, periodic checking and actual input of data for the various tables used to administer the UNJSPF. Update tables as necessary due to regulation changes.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in statistics, mathematics, economics, sociology or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of statistical data or related area.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
